Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be COMFORTED. - Matthew 5:4 Part 2

COMFORT

I longed to feel comforted but I was in so much pain, nothing anyone said could’ve soothed my breaking heart. But still that longing was there. There were many that held me, kissed me, rocked with me while I cried, talked to me, listened to me and were just there. Everyone in their own way made sure that they could provide some comfort for me during my most difficult time. I will always remember that. It meant so much to me and it’s truly in those times that you find out who really cares for you.

The comfort I truly needed, I turned my back on due to anger and hurt. I couldn’t understand why God would allow this to happen. I couldn’t pray due to anger. Every fiber in my being longed for an explanation but there was none. My attempts to pray left me on my knees, in tears

Blessed are they who MOURN for they shall be comforted. - Matthew 5:4 Part 1

MOURNING

In the dictionary the word “mourning” is defined as “Sorrow, lamentation, grief; To express sadness or sorrow for; to grieve over.” Mourning is something we usually do when there is loss, loss of a person or thing. Mourning is a result of heartbreak, pain, despair, frustration and hurt. I never knew what it was to truly mourn until my father passed and I’m still grieving his death. In fact, I didn’t mourn his death as I would’ve liked to. I really wanted to scream, shout, tear at my clothes, run down the street screaming, fall to

Contentment is God

I really like this poem but I don't know the author.

Contentment is God

Be Content in ME, MY child, I will supply your need
Be Content in ME alone, come MY child, I plead
I am your Rest, your Peace, your Calm,
your name's engraved
Upon MY

Pray for Me

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed." James 5:16

Isn't it good to have a best friend whom you feel like you can share everything with? Share your deepest and innermost thoughts and transgressions? James says here that we ought to confess our trespasses to one another. How hard is that! It may be especially hard when

Worrywart? Do not worry about your life...Luke 12:22-26

"Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’” (Luke 12:22-26, NIV)

I find myself worrying a lot sometimes and on the other hand, I just don't worry about things that I should be worried about.

Worrying is a vicious cycle that has no end because one thought leads to the next which leads to the next and it goes on and on and on. But what if we decide not to worry about things and actually took all our worries to Jesus Christ? Wouldn't that be

Never Let Me Go Hebrews 13:5

Hebrews 13:5“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

I know what it is to have the weight of the world on your shoulders, to feel like at any minute you are going to break. I know how it feels to be surrounded by people and feel alone. I know what it feels like to believe that no one will ever understand you. I know how it feels to let someone into your world, trusting that maybe if I open up, someone will finally understand

Be Content in Whatever State....Philippians 4:11-12

11Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. Philippians 4:11-12

Paul said he LEARNED to be CONTENT in WHATEVER STATE he was in. He knew what it was
to be abased (in a low state) and how to abound (fulfilled) and in whatever state or situation he was in, he was content! What I like is that he said he had to learn to be content in those situations

This learning process may have taken a while or not so long. At first I can imagine Paul may have found himself complaining about the situations he was in but

Bitter/sweet Ephesians 4:31-32

Ephesians 4:31-32
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

On my way home, I forgot my bible in church so I turned around to retrieve it. By the time I got there, the church grounds were cleared but the pastor’s car was still there. I opened the church doors and shouting and screaming greeted me. As I got closer, I thought it was the drama team rehearsing but then the profanities were

God looks at the heart

... For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.- 1 Sam 16:7

A good friend send me this morning devotional and I thought I would share it. The message went on to say "God can read your heart like an open book, when others can only see what's on the surface of your life.
I was moved to share it because I know how it feels when it seems only God really
knows your heart and your intent. You can tell others what's in your heart and they sometimes will never know but God knows.

But what help is it to you if

What a friend we have in Jesus

I visited a church recently and we sang that song. I've known the song growing up but it didn't hit me or move me more than when I read the lyrics and I shook my head in church and smiled to myself. I stopped singing and mouthed the words and that's when I realized that this song, as simple as it is, is powerful! All we have to do is take everything to the Lord in prayer.

Sometimes we may not see Jesus as
a friend. We may see him as our Lord and Savior and we praise him and love him for what He did for us but can we look at him in the light of being our friend also? A friend you can talk to about anything. A friend who can

A wise woan builds her house... Proverbs 14:1

A wise woman builds her house but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. - Proverbs 14:1

What a word! I read this over and over and was amazed everytime to know that we can be that foolish woman! We can be the one to tear down something we have built with our own hands.

Isn't it sad or hurtful to know that you have labored and struggled to build something for so long but because of your foolish actions, you tear it down with your own
