Today some people are celebrating Valentine's Day. Receiving flowers, chocolates, poems and heartfelt sentiments are all part of this celebration. For some, Valentine's Day is a wonderful day to show their loved ones how they feel about them. For others, it may be depressing as they may not be in a relationship to receive gifts. For some, this day is just a regular day. There are others still who do not celebrate it. Some may even ask, "What is the craze all about?"
The craze is about L-O-V-E. Everyone wants to feel loved. In fact, it's a longing that every human feels at one point. God the author of creation, whom love resides and flows from, created us out of love. Therefore,
for us to show love and be loved is a part of our make up.
I believe that Valentine's Day, I choose to call it Love Day, should be every day. We may not be able to afford the chocolates and flowers every day but showing someone love and care is free. It doesn't cost money to tell someone you love them or to give them a hug. It doesn't cost money to give someone a kiss or to spend time with them in meaningful conversation. It doesn't cost much to give someone a call and tell them how much they mean to you. There are so many ways you can show someone you love them. Material things can never reflect true sincere sentiment of the heart only an act motivated by love can.
My favorite definition of love is what Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. If I'm ever confused about what true love is, I reflect on that. I take my time to read it slowly, meditate on it and let it reside in my spirit. I need to know what it is, in fact we all should know. I invite you to take the time to read it slowly, understand it and meditate on it.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.
We all long to be in love with someone who loves us with the knowledge of what love is so they can act on it. However, until that happens, let's continue to work on ourselves, love ourselves and show this love to those who we hold close and dear keeping in mind God's definition of LOVE.
God bless you on this celebrated Valentine's Day.
